The shape of spear blades vary widely, but are all similar in design. The blade is the flattened section of a round bar. The round section is inserted into the wooden handle and is fixed in place by leather, grass or wire binding. Spears with small blades and long handles are usually throwing spears while spears with long and wider blades and shorter handles are stabbing spears.
